It is very brave for a person to come and share their vulnerabilities with someone they are only just meeting and therefore I will do all that I can to steward our space and time together with care and compassion, ensuring that you feel comfortable, encouraged, and safe.
During our first meeting we will begin by reviewing my confidentiality policy (see below) and then I will facilitate a conversation with you about your needs and goals in therapy. I will ask you questions about your history and symptoms to better understand the context of your story. We will save time to review business details such as payments, scheduling, and late/cancellation information and ultimately make a decision together about whether and how we move forward. Each appointment, including our initial intake session(s) will be 55 minutes in duration and payment is due at the beginning of each session or as previously agreed.
In order to make best use of our time together in our first visit, I will ask you to fill out a Welcome Packet prior to engaging in therapy. The information in the Welcome Packet will serve to give me an idea of the direction we’ll take and supplement the history and details that we discuss in person. I will also ask you for applicable insurance and payment information and supply you with information on my Policies and Procedures. All of this paperwork will be available through our secure online portal in Simple Practice.
Confidentiality Policy: I am bound by HIPAA Privacy Rules to protect your confidential information except if there is risk of danger to yourself or others or there is a court order. As a Social Worker, I am a Mandatory Reporter. If you choose to utilize insurance for payment, I may need to disclose Protected Health Information as is required for billing purposes.
Late Arrivals/Cancellation Policy: It is important to me to honor your time, my time, and the time of the other clients that I serve. For this reason, I ask that you let me know ahead of time if you will be more than 15 minutes late for our appointment; likely we will still need to end at our scheduled end time and in some cases may need to reschedule altogether. I will expect full payment for a session ($175) even if you are late, or if you do not cancel with 48 hours notice- please note that late cancels are not billable to insurance and will be charged to your account. You may call, email, or text to alert me to lateness or cancellations- thank you!
